I am a non-pushy,  effective (in finding your dream house by cutting though the smoke and mirrors and use truth as my sales pitch) realtor in America’s oldest town.  I live with my family in St. Augustine, Florida. I work as a realtor for Endless Summer Realty, a trustworthy local firm.

What does La Florida mean? Did you know when Ponce de León discovered Florida and founded St. Augustine in 1513 he named it La Florida which means the land of the flowers. This was because of the beautiful flowery landscape and it was the time of Easter and the festival of flowers in Spain.

My life:

• I grew up in small town New England.
• I have degrees from Wake Forest University and Trinity College in Economics.
• I worked in Boston (investment accounting).
• Met my wife Kasia in Krakow, Poland, left my career and stayed for eight years, learned Polish and taught English.
• We moved back to the USA to Anastasia Island.
• I am writing a program to teach the Amish language.
• For fun I spend time with my family.

 A funny reason why I know about St. Augustine

I know every brick and corner in St. Augustine because when I first moved here from Europe I thought I did not need a car and we walked and biked everywhere. And you know I did it. I sold my car in when I lived in Boston, I sold my car when I lived in Europe. In a moment of idealism I thought I would give it a try in Florida here.  It was a success. I lived in Florida without a car and with a family. We did not feel any derivation and were in phenomenal shape from biking everywhere. I know Florida from a perspective from the ground up. I know homes and properties other have not noticed. I have a grounds up perspective of the oldest city in America.

The positive effect from my pedestrian experiment was I learned Florida real estate from a perspective that driving around would not give you. Try walking and biking a town and you will learn it well. I would tell my wife, every time we made a wrong turn and have to backtrack, ‘I do not like paying for real estate twice’. She would tell me try to discover something new on our trek back that you have not seen before. I always did.

However, in the end,  when I realized my daughter started school, we all  wanted to go to Disney and  take day trips and explore the South East,  we got one. Yet the Henry David Thoreau experiment was a success.

My personal interests include:

• Read everything  –  books/authors I have enjoyed include, Plato, the Hunger Games, City of Sparks, Hans Kung, Marcus Aurelius,  Anne Rice, Lem, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky.
• We have an organic garden, go fishing, swimming, canoeing .
• Walking and traveling with my family.
• Chess
• Civilization – the computer game
• Mindless non-pretentious entertainment: Netflix My favorite movies recently have been: Overboard, The Island, 50 first Dates, Lost ( do you notice a theme here).  TV:Survivor, The Office. Once upon a Time (I still and will always believe in fairly-tales).
• History or any liberal arts subject. I am more interested in Ancient Greek culture to Ancient Roman.

The genesis of my interest in real estates took inspiration from history and a belief the American dream

My interest in Real Estate was an outgrowth in my interest history and have found myself attracted to historical towns. I lived in Boston, Krakow and now St. Augustine. I tend to go for towns with an authentic feel manifest in architecture and history.

Architecture is frozen music. It captures the spirit of the age.

When you look at life with an appreciation of history, you can see the world with appreciation. Everything means something and comes from idea which can transform your life.

A personal example of this is, I have always admired our immigrant grandparents who came here to America with a two suitcases and achieved the American dream. I have always nostalgically wanted to travel back in time to the 1890s to the 1940s and experience this.

Do you want to know a funny thing? I moved to Europe and after a decade returned with my family with nothing more than two suit cases.

My mother was an interior decorator and my father built his first real house with my grandfather himself. I was raised in New England but lived much of my life in Poland. I understand value and quality workmanship in a home. I am not a home inspector, but I know homes. I would want someone like me on my side.
